Post Genki Con

Ok, for some time J-popcon has been the only thing for danes to attend when it comes to japanese pop culture conventions. And I lost my faith in that con long ago (let's leave it at that). But a new con emerged not that long ago, but I didn't attend it last year. I was not too keen on conventions and big crowds, and later I heard that the crowds had been very young and hyper.
This year however, I was very surprised. Sascha and Astrid had arranged a lolita fashion show, a lolita panel and a tea party, of which I only attended the fashion show.

I had volunteered to model for the show thinking I'd just leave right after, not feeling keen on a lot of young cosplayers bouncing on sugar. But after the show, lo and behold, I stayed around! I saw lots of friends and the weather was great!! It was great fun. So much so, that I turned up the next day and hung out with Stine, Cilje and more people, even though I didn't pay for entrance, so I didn't get to see any of the closed area events (like lolita panel). I also got to talk with some of the members of The Lillith (a danish band influenced by j-rock) They're nice, and have so much fire and love for their music, which I admire.

I ended up not attending Genki on sunday, as I had to get up very early and the weather was extremely crappy. So I missed out on the J-fashion tea party, which I regret, but such is life. It looks like they had an awesome time.

The con also had a pretty pro photographer stalking around. His photos are so kick ass!
Genki should really exhibit some large scale prints of the portraits from this year, at next year's Genki Con!
