J-popcon fashion show

J-popcon is over. The biggest anime & manga event of the year was held this weekend, and I attended for one single purpose.
Flaunt my STUFF!!
Like last year, there was a fashion show, and I had applied to model my own creation. I've made it my personal goal never to wear anything but homemade clothes when being in a fashion show.
This year, I went for a different style. I normally wear sweet/bittersweet, but this year I wanted to make a elegant gothic coord. Inspired by the season and my recent jewelry purchase from H&M, I wanted to do a deer coord. Sounds odd, I know. I wanted black, empire waistline, rich textured fabrics and a feel of luxury. Oh, and I wanted antlers XD

My coord application photo

After the fashion show. I originally had black painted hands,
but had washed them when this was taken.

The dress (JSK) is made of this gorgeous woven patterned cotton, with organza across the chest and the skirt. I used 4m(!) for the skirt, so it really moves ^_^ The sheer blouse and stockings are from H&M. The shoes from Bianco. I'll do some detail shots of all of this when I have daylight.

I carved the antlers from balsa wood, and felt very crafty while doing so XD
The necklace was made from fimo clay and then covered with leaf 'gold'.

I met up with Eri outside the venue, where we had to wait in line in the bleeding cold for more than an hour before getting inside and get our prepaid armbands. Most ridiculous thing was that people who hadn't paid in advance could just stroll directly inside and buy their ticket at once.
Inside we ran into various friends, before heading for the big hall to relax and catch a glimpse of the panel with Vic Mignogna and Haruko Momoi who were taking questions about voice acting. It was surprisingly funny, and I enjoyed it (even with the many horribly embarressing questions from fangirls (you do not ask someone if you can lick their face!!!!)) After that I realized that I had still not changed into my lolita gear, so Eri and I hurried to the nearest bathroom where I stressed about contact lenses, falsies, fake hair and so on. Eri was very patient with me, and helped me with packing everything when I was done with it. She even carried stuff for me, when we hurried back to the big hall. Thanks babe!!

The light and bright army on stage! Liv and Mie, I heart you guys so bad!

We were 32 models in total. I as on the stage alone twice, once in winter coat with muff and earmuffs (no pictures though ;_; ) and once without the coat, showing my new dress and wearing the antler headbow.
We were all seated beside the stage, and went up one at a time, where Sascha (who'd planned everything) introduced us and our clothes. Then we went up on stage in pairs, and then all the dark dressed models, and then the brightly dressed models. So I was on stage 4 times XD

Astrid and I

I wish I'd gotten my hands even darker than this ;_; Oh well, I'll do that for an upcoming shoot. Astrid made her dress as well (or was it two dresses in one? This girl has the most awesome ideas!)
On stage with Ari. She was so nervous, but did perfectly!

The antlers held up really well, and wasn't heavy at all! So all in all I'm very satisfied with this, even though it's not my normal style.

My complaints about the show. J-popcon had done nothing to help Sascha with the arrangement, so she had to stress about finding a changing room, and then put up seats for the models to sit on while waiting for their turn in the spotlight. There hadn't even been put up a screen so that the audience couldn't see the models before time either. Typical J-popcon, so I'm not surprised. They're so depressingly not interested in the whole fashion aspect of japanese popculture.

After the show, I met up with Stine, Kasper and Casper, and was introduced to Alex (aka. Fashion Jesus (don't ask me why)) awesome guy!! I was invited to go drinking with them, but seing as I had work saturday, I had to decline (grudgingly!).
However, I returned after work the next day, and did nothing but hang out with Stine, Casper and Alex, who talked Stine and I into go drinking. We were both extremely tired, but he paid for the drinks, and how can you say no to that? Around 4-5 ish in the morning, we ended up in our friend Allan's place where we fell asleep to Iron Man 2.

Sunday I spent at my parents' house sleeping plenty!
One huge complaint I have is that there was no info about free areas on the con, and since I wanted to participate in the fashion show, I paid the ticket (350 dkr.) but I only experienced 2 events and the dealer room, and afterwards I heard of so many people who'd just strolled right in, and hung out.
I mean. It's not like there was anything like the possibility of winning anything by modelling. We all did an event for the con, and so, I think that if anything, the con should have offered free entrance, just for that evening for the models who were there only for that.

This was my last J-popcon. I'll probably model again, since I love it, but nothing more. I have had so many crappy experiences with this thing. It might just be my history with the con, or that I'm not really into the whole anime and manga scene any more. I dunno. I know lots of people had an amazing time. I just think it's time for me to move on. I'll go with Allan and his crew to UppCon next year, since it sounds like a blast, and I love the swedish nerds!!

I want to dance to this track so hard!!!

Sorry if that comes off as a bit creepy, but I LOVE your outfit! It has been one of my dreams to wear a lolita outfit with antlers for a while and you pulled it off perfectly! <3
I am absolutely amazed by your coordination.

Sorry to ask that directly, but do you perhaps plan to make a tutorial on how you made those antlers? Or maybe give some tips how to best carve the antlers from the wood?
I understand if you don't want to do that, but I always wondered how to make antlers like that. <3

That outfit girrrl..so crazy! I love everything about it :) Especially the way you did your hair! I SOO wanna have a photoshoot with you in that outfit sometime!

Thanks again for participating in the fashion show! You looked gorgeous - and it's SO nice to show Denmark that you DON'T have to be 17 years old to wear lolita ^-^

Actually J-Popcon DID offer free entrance for the models for the fashion show Friday - I also wrote that in the original post :)
